Esther Rene Collins

Mrs. Collins died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, Topeka.

She was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Paola, the daughter of Albert and Neives Vasquez Dela-Cruz. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1966.

She moved in 1976 from Osawatomie to Ottawa. She worked as a housekeeper at Econo Lodge in Ottawa from 1996 until May 2002.

She married Robert Collins on April 10, 1983, in Ottawa. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Denise Collins, and a son, Scott Collins, both of the home; a stepdaughter, Kristin Ferris, St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Debbie Folsom, Osawatomie; two brothers, Tom Dela-Cruz, Olathe, and Steven Dela-Cruz, Osawatomie; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. today until the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, where a rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Franklin County Diabetes Support Group, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
