Stanley and Agnes House, Eudora, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 25 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 245 N. Fourth St., in Lawrence.

Agnes Spitzli and Stanley House were married July 30, 1944, at the home of Elizabeth Jacqmain in Lawrence.

Their children are Stanley House and Fred House, Kansas City, Kan.; Ron House, Norman, Okla.; Kent House, Gardner; Nancy Cornelius and Helen Sue Seetin, Lawrence. They have 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The couple request no gifts.

Newman

Kathryn and Verner Newman III celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on June 20 at The Hereford House in Lawrence.

Verner L. Newman III and Kathryn Ann Gatewood were married June 21, 1954, in Manhattan.

Verner is a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired police captain with 26 years on the Lawrence Police Department. He also retired from the State of Kansas after 10 years as a public service officer for facilities management in the Department of Administration.

Kathryn was a banking officer with First National Bank for 18 years. She is employed with Douglas County Senior Services Inc.

Their children are Rebecca Murphy and Verner L. Newman IV. They also have four grandchildren.
