Police are trying to solve a rape that happened about 3 a.m. today after an unknown man entered a woman’s residence in the southwest part of the city.

Police would not give an exact location of the crime, citing an ongoing investigation. But they said the suspect and victim- a Lawrence woman in her 20s -do not know each other.

Because of the investigation, police would not release further details of the incident, such as whether the man entered the home by force.

Sgt. Dan Ward, a police spokesman, urged people to keep their window shades closed at night and lock their doors.
