Voting: This year’s style statement

? Voting is very fashionable this year.

Isaac Mizrahi says high heels and voting are sexy, and Armani Exchange and Marie Claire have the collective message that voting is this year’s style “statement.”

Mizrahi, Richard Tyler and Todd Oldham each designed limited edition T-shirts to support the nonpartisan, nonprofit program called Declare Yourself, which urges young adults to cast their ballots.

The shirts aim to express the power of voting. “VOTE” is spelled down the front of Mizrahi’s V-neck shirt; Oldham plays off the “Gone fishing” sign by showing a wood banner that says “Gone Voting”; and Tyler uses messages of peace, love and “Be the change you want to see … Vote!”

The Armani Exchange shirt is part of a broader partnership with Marie Claire to benefit the Step Up Women’s Network. The light blue T-shirt reads, “Think fashion makes a statement? Try voting.”

Step Up Women is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to strengthening community resources for women and girls. The group also is making available to women important election information, including polls, campaign calendars, voter registration and discussion forums on its Web site.
