Private services for George C. Kay, 87, Lawrence, are planned. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
Mr. Kay died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at his home.
He was born June 15, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of George Ashton and Lillian Mae Crockett Kay. He graduated from high school in Norwalk, Conn., in 1934, and attended Brown University. He served in the Army during World War II.
He worked for Stamford Savings Bank, Stamford, Conn., where he became president before retiring in 1982.
Mr. Kay moved to Lawrence in 1989 from Norwalk, Conn.
He married Katherine Louise Handly on Oct. 19, 1946, in Stamford. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Bruce, Kansas City, Mo., a daughter, Bettyann Simmons, Lawrence, and five grandchildren.
A son, Edward, died in 2001.
The family suggests memorials to Douglas County Hospice Care, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
