Connie S. Walters

Services for Connie S. Walters, 56, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Walters died Monday, July 5, 2004, at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.

She was born March 10, 1948, in Caldwell, the daughter of Marvin and Frances Snyder Kloefkorn.

She was an occupational therapist for many years. Recently, she had worked as a paraprofessional at New York and East Heights schools in special education.

Mrs. Walters graduated from Kansas University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy. She was honored as the 1988 Alumni of the Year in Douglas County 4-H, the Douglas County 4-H Family of the Year in 1992 and was honored for her 17 years as club leader of the Meadowlark 4-H club in 1994. She was a member of the Douglas County 4-H Foundation Board and First United Methodist Church.

She married Larry W. Walters on March 30, 1969, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Heather Walters, Arlington, Va.; a son, Jeff Walters, Lawrence; her parents, Caldwell; two brothers, Randy Kloefkorn, Alpharetta, Ga., and Brad Kloefkorn, Beaumont, Texas; two sisters, Trudy Miller, Maize, and Kathy Gann, Belle Plaine; and a granddaughter.

Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Douglas County 4-H Foundation, sent in care of the mortuary.
