Grayson Dillon scored 11 points, and Adam Davis added 10, and Lawrence Seabury Academy’s boys basketball team — behind a defense that allowed single-digit scoring in three of four quarters — claimed its second straight victory, 35-28, Friday over Flint Hills Christian.

“Really, it’s a sign of us turning the corner,” Seabury coach Marcus Heckman said. “We’re a young team, and we took our lumps early, but the fact is, we picked up a couple of tough wins against good teams.”

Seabury (2-8) allowed just five first-half points and led, 18-5, at the break.

“It would have been easy for us at 0-8 to crumble,” Heckman said. “But the kids didn’t allow that to happen.”

The Seahawks play host Tuesday to Kansas School for the Deaf.

Flint Hills girls 26, Seabury 17

Seabury led, 14-10, at halftime, but went scoreless in the third quarter and scored just three in the fourth.

“We played a good first half,” Seabury coach Eric Nelson said. “They went to a half-court zone trap, and we didn’t handle it very well.”

Lindsey Ahlen led Seabury with seven points. Laura Frizell added six points, and Laura Hoffmann scored four.

Seabury (0-9) plays host Tuesday to Kickapoo Nation.
