Woodling named co-sports writer of year in Kansas

Journal-World sports editor Chuck Woodling and Kevin Haskin of the Topeka Capital-Journal have been named co-sports writers of the year in Kansas by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

Woodling is the only Kansas sports writer outside of Wichita and Topeka who ever has won the award. He also won in 1988, the year Kansas University captured the NCAA men’s basketball championship.

KU play-by-play announcer Bob Davis was named 2003 Kansas sportscaster of the year. Woodling, Haskin and Davis will be recognized at NSSA award ceremonies May 1-3 in Salisbury, N.C.
