William Dale Barkley

? Services for William Dale Barkley, 48, Overbrook, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, northwest of Centropolis.

Mr. Barkley died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 16, 1955, in Riverside, Calif., the son of Robert and Josephine (Maxwell) Barkley. He was a longtime Franklin County resident and was raised in the Centropolis area. He graduated from Pomona High School in 1973.

Mr. Barkley was a Facilities Operations construction supervisor for Kansas University for the past 18 years.

He married Joyce B. Rich on Aug. 30, 1974, in Baldwin. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include his parents, Pomona; three daughters, Crystal Dawn Barkley, Lawrence, Elizabeth Marie Crump, Pomona, and Jody Lynn Barkley, of the home; a son, William Cody, of the home; four sisters, Wanda Andrews, Pomona, Sheryl Baugher, Ottawa, Jo Ellen Waltman, Baldwin, and Lea Ann Collins, Jasper, Ark.; two brothers, David, Baldwin, and Don, Wellsville; and a grandson.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at the mortuary, where family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
