Collison fans

To the editor:

When the Seattle Supersonics had an open summer-league practice, I made a sign that said, “KU Soccer loves Nick,” (for Nick Collison) and my husband and I sat in the front row. As the parents of another KU athlete (goalie for the soccer team), we felt an almost parental pride in watching Nick play. For the first time, we were actually looking forward to the NBA season so we could follow one of our favorite college athletes. We were so proud the Sonics picked Nick!

Now we have to wait another year, but I hope Nick knows that like other college basketball fans, we eagerly await his participation and know he will help the Sonics become a better team. There are many of us out here in Seattle who know who Nick is and desperately want him to succeed. We will be there for him and he won’t be or feel anonymous anymore. He will always be a “big deal” to us, no matter where he plays.

Now, if I can just afford some expensive seats down front in Key Arena, I’ll be one happy Jayhawk!

M. Binke Miller,
