Richard David Rice

Baldwin ? Services for Richard David Rice, 45, Pittsburg, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Baldwin. Private burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin.

Mr. Rice died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at Mount Carmel Medical Center in Pittsburg.

He was born Jan. 27, 1958, in Lawrence, the son of William C. and Veta Nadine Rice.

He grew up in Baldwin and was educated at St. Mary’s Academy in Paola before becoming a resident at New Horizons in Pittsburg in 1977.

Mr. Rice was a past participant in the Special Olympics.

Survivors include two brothers, Anthony Houchin, Waverly, and Daniel Houchin, Lawrence; and three sisters, Janet Reed, Chillicothe, Mo., Phyllis Houchin, Zepher Hills, Fla., and Patsy McCann, Graff, Mo.

His parents and a stepmother, Melba Ruth Houchin, died earlier.
