Kaws fall to Maranatha; Chieftains to play for own championship

? Spencer Kennedy and Willie Treaster each scored 11, and Drew Robbins added 10 in a losing cause for the Kaws in a 55-50 high school boys basketball setback to Shawnee Maranatha in the semifinals of the McLouth Invitational.

Brenton Bell led Maranatha with 17 points.

Tonganoxie– Kirk Rodell scored 19 points, Shane Howard added 14, and Derek Sparks had 13 as Tonganoxie rallied to secure a berth into the championship game of its invitational.

Lansing, the tournament’s No. 1 seed, led 17-11 in the first quarter and 32-27 at halftime. Each team scored 18 third-quarter points before Tongie pulled out the win with a 24-11 fourth quarter.

The Chieftains were the fifth seed in their tournament.
