Affleck, J-Lo break up — again

New York — The on-again, off-again relationship between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez is off. Again.

And this time, it looks like it’s for good.

Jennifer Lopez ended the engagement, one of her publicists told The Associated Press on Thursday.

A spokesman for Lopez confirmed to People and Us Weekly magazines that she had ended it, saying: “At this difficult time, we ask that you respect her privacy.”

Affleck’s publicist, Ken Sunshine, would only say: “As usual, we never comment on the private lives of our clients.”

Prince Harry headed to Africa

London — Prince Harry will spend two months in Africa working on projects that help young mothers and disadvantaged children, his father’s office said Thursday.

The office at Clarence House — London home of Prince Charles, 19-year-old Harry and 21-year-old Prince William — said the eight-week African trip would take Harry to a number of locations and community projects.

An office spokeswoman said that “for security and privacy reasons,” the dates of the trip and the countries the prince would visit weren’t being announced.

Harry, taking time off between his education at Eton and his enrollment at Sandhurst military academy, spent part of last year working on a ranch in Australia.

College to meet Cosby challenge

Wilberforce, Ohio — Central State University officials are confident they’ll meet a challenge from Bill Cosby to raise $750,000 for scholarships in exchange for a benefit performance for the school by him.

The comedian challenged officials at the historically black university during a campus visit in September. He asked Central State President John Garland how much the university could raise, and Garland told him $500,000.

“He (Cosby) said, ‘That’s way too low. You’re thinking way too small. If you raise $750,000, I’ll come. And if you don’t raise it, I’m going to embarrass you and I won’t show up,”‘ Garland recalled.

Garland said Wednesday the university had raised $600,000, and said he was confident it could surpass $750,000.

“An Evening with Bill Cosby” is scheduled for April 25 at the Schuster Performing Arts Center in Dayton. Ticket prices for the black-tie event have not been set.

Museum to honor Brokaw

New York — Tom Brokaw will make some news of his own when he’s honored at the Museum of Television & Radio’s annual gala.

Brokaw will be recognized at the Feb. 19 event at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York for “his extraordinary body of work as he approaches his retirement later this year as anchor and managing editor of ‘NBC Nightly News,”‘ the museum said this week.

Brokaw, 63, joined NBC news in 1966 and has been the anchor and managing editor of the nightly newscast since 1983.
