De Soto ? Allie Heinen scored 16 points, and Lisa Lambert and Amy Petty added nine each as De Soto claimed a workmanlike 57-39 high school girls basketball victory Thursday over Kansas City Piper.

De Soto (8-1) led throughout, and Piper never really challenged.

“They’re just not having a very good year, and we took care of the ball better than we have been,” De Soto coach Dwight Spencer said. “We hit some shots early and kept extending the lead. We were just steady throughout.”

De Soto will face K.C. Turner Monday in the first round of the Louisburg tournament.
