New executives start at KU radio station

New student executives will take over the reins this semester at Kansas University student-run radio station, 90.7 FM, KJHK.

Brent Stevens, Maize, a senior studying strategic communications, is moving up from public relations director to station manager. He has been a station executive member since the fall. Stevens established KJ Play, a music review section in the student daily newspaper, The University Daily Kansan. He also managed recruiting efforts.

Carlos Centero, a senior from Caracas, Venezuela, will replace Stevens under a new title, communications director.

Executive staff positions technically start Jan. 22, but many executives spent winter break training new disc jockeys and working on promotions and business, station officials said.

Executives also created a new position for Technology Director Peter Berard, Overland Park, a senior studying business and philosophy. Berard will work on current technology and future technology options.

Other executives include Program Director Josh Powers, Kansas City, Mo.; News Director Kevin MacDonald, Shawnee; Sports Director Kevin Flaherty, Lenexa; Music Director Chris Shively, Kansas City, Mo.; Development Director, Jenni Wilson, Emporia; Production Director Matt Beat, Augusta; Promotions Director Catherine McGivney, New York; Live Events Director Meredith Vecek, Lawrence; Internet Director Alan Wong, Topeka.

The radio station can be found at 90.7 FM and at www.kjhk.org.
