Area boys roundup: Perry-Lecompton rallies past McLouth

? Spencer Kennedy scored 24 points and Drew Tucker 16 as Perry-Lecompton’s boys basketball team claimed a 58-54 come-from-behind basketball victory over McLouth Tuesday in a first-round McLouth tournament game.

Tucker made four three-pointers as the Kaws battled back from a 34-26 halftime deficit. Kennedy had 11 rebounds, while Tucker and Ryan Guffey had six rebounds each.

“Our guys battled, hung in and executed,” said Kaws’ coach Pat Hupfauf. “We didn’t turn it over late, took charges.”

McLouth was led by Isaac Gardner, who had 21 points. Pat Bartlett added 12.

The Kaws, 4-5, next meet Shawnee Maranatha in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

In other McLouth Tournament games Tuesday, Atchinson County Community beat Jefferson North, 71-54; Valley Falls edged Topeka Cair Paravel, 67-65; and Maranatha hammered Oskaloosa, 74-46.
