50s returning on Sunday

Remember the 50s? After a week’s worth of frigid weather they’ll be arriving back in Lawrence Sunday afternoon, says Matt Jacobs, 6News meteorologist.

“Sunday looks really good. We start out at 30 and our high will be 56,” Jacobs said. “It’s going to be nice. We haven’t had weather that warm for a week.”

But first we’ll have to get through a couple of cold days.

Today’s high is expected to be 30, under mostly cloudy skies.

“We actually could see a little bit of sun toward sunset,” Jacobs said.

Cold weather continues tonight, under partly cloudy skies.

The low will dip down to 19 early Saturday morning, with light winds.

Saturday’s skies will be mostly cloudy, with some low clouds. The temperature will climb to about 40.

“The first half of the weekend will be cool and cloudy with the second half mostly sunny and warm,” Jacobs said.

The next chance for rain or snow will be Tuesday afternoon.
