McMillin services

Graveside services for Clyde Junior “Chuck” McMillin, 80, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Maple Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 852 of Lawrence.

Mr. McMillin died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.

He was born March 31, 1923, in Ottawa, the son of Samuel and Goldie (Branning) McMillin.

Mr. McMillin served in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Navy for nearly eight years. He worked at Lawrence Paper Co. In 1968 he moved from Lawrence to Louisiana and was a toll bridge operator for the Louisiana State Department of Transportation. He was a member of VFW Post No. 852 and the American Legion.

He married Meldean Pearson on April 25, 1948, in Lawrence. They divorced in 1976.

Survivors include three sons, Richard, Lawrence, Mark, Perry, and Steve, Oskaloosa; two daughters, Connie McMillin, Ozaw-kie, and Cathy Pearson, West Virginia; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Teresa McMillin, died earlier.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
