Murphy signs with Highland

Free State High senior Marcus Murphy signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play football at Highland Community College.

Murphy, one of Free State's top threats at wide receiver, caught 12 passes for 131 yards with one touchdown.

Murphy is Free State's ninth football signee this year. He will join FSHS teammates Arvelle Trotter, Aaron Johnson and Ryan Ellis at Highland next year.

Corkill to ink with Neosho

Lawrence High senior Audrey Corkill will sign a letter of intent Wednesday to play softball at Neosho County CC in Chanute. Corkill helped lead the Lions to a 12-10 record last season. She's the third LHS softball player to commit, joining Danielle Huff and Jennifer Narcomey, both of whom committed to Johnson County CC. Corkill will sign at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in the LHS library.

Dillingham selected to academic team

Free State High senior Dain Dillingham was selected to the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Assn.'s Scholar-Athlete team.

Dillingham, who has signed to play football at Drake next year, was one of 11 Kansas players selected to the team. The GKCFCA also selects 11 Missouri players.
