Seabury’s season ends
Highland crushes Seahawk girls
HIGHLAND ? Seabury Academy’s girls basketball team enjoyed the atmosphere surrounding its final game of the season.
The outcome, however, left a little to be desired.
Seabury’s season ended with a 43-16 loss Tuesday to host Highland in a Class 1A regional game.
“Honestly, it was a good experience for the kids,” Seahawks coach Eric Nelson said. “They had a big, jammin’ band, a small-town-Kansas atmosphere. They packed the place.
“I think the girls enjoyed playing there, even though it was a two-hour drive one-way. It was a good experience for them.”
Seabury (1-13) was the sixth seed in the region. Highland (10-9) was seeded third.
“They were a really deep and fast team,” Nelson said. “We’ve struggled putting the ball in the hole, and we struggled with that tonight. But we’re looking forward to next year. I think we’ve got a group of girls who are really committed. We were a little bit outmanned, but they made a lot of progress.”
Laura Frizell led Seabury with eight points.
