Dana Marie Gilbert Knappenberger

? Services for Dana Marie Gilbert Knappenberger, 43, St. John, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in St. John. Burial will be in Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John. Another service at First Baptist Church in Lawrence will be announced later.

Mrs. Knappenberger died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at Stafford District Hospital.

She was born Jan. 13, 1961, in Lawrence, the daughter of Verlin and Suzanne Sandusky Gilbert. She graduated in 1979 from Lawrence High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1983 from Kansas University. She moved from Lawrence to St. John 12 years ago.

Mrs. Knappenberger taught mathematics at Sunset Hill School in Lawrence and at St. John Junior and Senior High schools.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Parent-Teacher Organization, Hesperian Club and Ida Long Goodman Library Board. She was also a Sunday school teacher, youth music ministry coordinator, 4-H club leader and coach of youth soccer, basketball and T-ball teams.

She married Don J. Knappenberger on Nov. 22, 1992, in Lawrence. He survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Tyler Hammond, St. John; a daughter, Kaylea Knappenberger, St. John; her parents, Lawrence; a brother, Darren Gilbert, Lawrence; and a sister, Sharna Miller, Lawrence.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Minnis Chapel in St. John.
