Dale ‘Pete-o’ Curtis Peterson

Services for Dale “Pete-o” Curtis Peterson, 49, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He was cremated.

Mr. Peterson died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 20, 1954, in San Bernardino, Calif., the son of Vernon and Marjorie (Pushor) Peterson. He graduated from Bonner Springs High School in 1972 and from Kansas University in 1990. He lived all his adult life in Lawrence.

Mr. Peterson worked for Schlumberger for 26 years. He coached and umpired youth baseball in Lawrence and was baseball commissioner. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

He married Edith M. Heinrich on June 1, 1977, in Las Vegas. She died March 8, 1998. He married Viki Royer on March 9, 1999, in Las Vegas. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his mother, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; a son, Eric C., Lawrence; a daughter, Amy D. Hastings, Gardner; a stepdaughter, Vanessa Royer Chow-Yuen, Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, John, Los Angeles; a sister, Judy Thornbrugh, Shawnee; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to the Louie Heinrich Sportsmanship Foundation for American Legion Baseball or the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
