Network greed

To the editor:

What the sports programmers are doing to their consumers is completely unfair. Recently, sports networks such as ESPN and Fox Sports have hiked up their rates that ultimately force cable companies to increase their prices. Who does this affect? Who has to pay the bills? All cable subscribers.

This type of price gouging is irresponsible, greedy and unfair. Sports programmers need to work with cable companies to protect the value of cable for American consumers — instead of taking advantage of it. Consumers shouldn’t be forced to pay higher prices if sports programmers can’t keep their prices reasonable. These costs are out of control.
