Panel to examine city’s level of civility

Just how civil is the city of Lawrence?

A panel of local officials will attempt to answer that question during a town hall meeting from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Dole Institute of Politics.

Panelists will examine the topic of whether Lawrence is a respectful community. Moderator will be Mike Kautsch, professor of law at KU.

Panelists scheduled for the event are Deanell Tacha, chief judge of the 10th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals; Dr. Walt Menninger of Topeka; Lt. Dan Affalter, Lawrence Police Department; the Rev. Verdell Taylor, St. Luke A.M.E. Church; and Sharen Steele, principal at New York School.

The meeting is presented by Leadership Lawrence and Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. Reservations are due by Friday at 842-1202 or nlonghurst@lawrencechamber.com.
