Supt. thanks

To the editor:

So the “good old boy” bunch in Topeka wants to conduct public business behind the scenes and away from the twin distractions of the public’s scrutiny and input. If you are not already aware of what I’m writing about, see the Journal-World, Feb. 2 page 1A story about the reaction to Lawrence School Supt. Randy Weseman’s effort to point out a flaw in the governor’s school finance package. I’m already sharpening my No. 1 lead voting pencil in preparation for my next opportunity to send these people into obscurity.

All voters and taxpayers of Kansas should send Weseman a hearty “thank you” for publicly standing up for us. He has I’m sure taken a great deal of heat over his openness and honesty, but since when are those traits to be criticized?

Gary Blevins,

Lawrence
