Albert Dean Shepard

Military graveside services for Albert Dean Shepard, 75, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Shepard died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Topeka.

He was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Lawrence, the son of Wesley and Margaret White Shepard. He attended Liberty Memorial High School and lived in Lawrence all his life.

Mr. Shepard worked for Quaker Oats for 11 years until he retired in 1993. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force Engineers.

Survivors include his companion, Evelina Payne, Lawrence; a daughter, Kimberly Shepard, Dallas; three sons, Albert Jr., Dallas, Dwayne, Linwood, Ill., and Shannon, Country Club Hills, Ill.; three sisters, Marjorie May Shepard, Lawrence, Linda M. Young, Topeka, and Virginia Shepard, Laurel, Md.; three brothers, John, Harold and Stanley Sr., all of Lawrence; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two godchildren; and a grand-godson.

Family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Kansas Kidney Foundation, sent in care of the mortuary.
