Hemme services

? Services for Raymond Howard Hemme, 89, Perry, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Perry Christian Church. Burial will be in Newman-Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Hemme died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

He was born Nov. 25, 1914, near Newman, the son of Wilhelm Joseph and May Dora (Worschipp) Hemme. He graduated with honors from Perry Rural High School in 1933.

Mr. Hemme was a lifelong farmer and cattleman in the Perry area. He was a member of Perry Christian Church, where he had been a deacon and was the oldest member of the church.

He married Lizzie Janssen on April 30, 1942. She died Aug. 27, 1982. He married Frances Roller Hurd Smith on Oct. 2, 1984. She died July 23, 2003.

Survivors include two daughters, Grace Ann Dunn, Meriden, and Doris Mae Hemme, Topeka; two sons, David J. and Paul J., both of Perry; a sister, Mary Leach, Perry; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Barnett’s Meriden Funeral Chapel. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
