Tax rationale

To the editor:

The argument that a sales tax is the most unfair tax is simply not true. A person who makes $30,000 and buys a $15,000 car will pay $75 more with the new half-percent increase. A person who makes $100,000 and buys a $40,000 car will pay $200 more with the new half-percent increase. How is that not fair? The people who make more money will spend more money, therefore pay more in taxes. What could be more fair than that? Anyone who can’t see that is simply not using their head. I believe in eliminating income tax altogether and having more sales taxes, because you will pay taxes on what you purchase, not on what you earn. The wealthy will pay more in taxes than others because they spend more. Exemptions can be made for things such as gas.
