Cold and blustery today

Grab your winter hat, gloves, scarf and coat on your way out the door today.

“It’ll be the coldest day of the work week, topping out in the 30s. But it will feel like it’s only in the 20s,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

This morning’s temperatures were starting out at 32 about 8 a.m., with a 16 mph wind making the wind chill 19 degrees, Schack said.

Skies will be mostly clear today, with some mid-level clouds in the afternoon, she said. Temperatures will climb to a high today of 38, with northwest winds 15 to 25 mph, she said.

Mostly clear skies will make it easy to see tonight’s Geminid meteor shower, Schack said. Peak viewing time will be midnight, when there will be about 75 meteors per hour, she said.

“It’s supposed to be the best meteor shower we’ve seen so far this year. But it will be cold, so bundle up,” she said.

Overnight, the low will drop off to 14 by early Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with the high reaching 40.

Wednesday morning’s low temperature will be 20, with the high reaching 45 by Wednesday afternoon under partly cloudy skies, she said
