K-State blasts UMKC

After KSU (5-2) led 28-17 at halftime, Katie Houlehan hit a three-pointer, and Jowan Ortega added a basket to bring the Kangaroos (2-6) within 28-22.

K-State held Houlehan — UMKC’s all-time leading scorer — to eight points.

Kendra Wecker, the Wildcats’ top scorer and rebounder, missed her second game because of an ankle sprain.

No. 10 Ohio State 86, Nebraska 61

Columbus, Ohio — Jessica Davenport scored 26 points, and Ohio State (8-1) shot 65 percent from the field.

Nebraska (6-3) cut the lead to nine points with less than seven minutes remaining, but Ohio State went inside to Davenport, its 6-foot-4 post player, for bank shots on the next two possessions to pull away for its fifth win in a row.

Waco, Texas — Steffanie Blackmon had 25 points and nine rebounds, and Chameka Scott added 20 points to lead Baylor (7-1) over Penn State. Tanisha Wright paced the Lions (4-4) with 23 points, making 13 of 14 free throws.
