Lawrence bishop to move to Utah

Bishop Thomas Gill, of Lawrence 2nd Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, recently accepted employment in Utah.

He was released as bishop Dec. 5, and Steven Gill was called to lead the Ward. His counselors are Steve Lassen and Trent Beal.

Bishop Steven Gill is a financial officer of NIC. He and his wife, Adriane, have three children and have lived in Lawrence for 16 years.

Lassen is a graduate student in psychology at Kansas University. Lassen and his wife, Dani, have two children.

Beal is an enterprise architect at Payless ShoeSource. He and his wife, Kelly, have two children.

As bishop, Steven Gill serves as leader and spiritual adviser for about 400 members of the church in Lawrence.

  • Also Dec. 5, the Haskell Indian Nations University Branch of the Church was dissolved, and the members combined with the University Ward. Trent Beal was President of the Branch, and Mark Kelley was his counselor.

Dean Wilson is bishop of the University Ward.
