McElhaney’s fear

To the editor:

Many people in rural and urban Douglas County voted for Marguerite Ermeling for County Commission. I firmly believe she would have tried to act in the best interest of everyone and everything living in her district had she been elected. She ran a clean, decent and honest race.

Consequently, I’m disheartened by election winner Commissioner Jere McElhaney’s obvious anger and fear over Ermeling’s appointment to the Planning Commission by Mayor Rundle, an appointment he had every legal right to make. I for one am glad Ermeling’s voice and the voices of the many who voted for her will be represented on the Planning Commission.
