Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A thief smashed the passenger-side window of a 55-year-old Lawrence woman’s Jeep Cherokee and stole a purse and other items valued at a total of $1,366. The theft happened between 5:20 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 3200 block of Mesa Way.
  • A red 1976 Ford dump truck owned by The Wire Group LLC was stolen sometime Tuesday outside 8 E. Sixth St. The truck was valued at $5,000.

Condition updates

  • Sara Anne Driessel, the Kansas University student injured after falling from the roof of a home near campus, has been upgraded from fair to good condition at University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan., a spokesman said Thursday.
  • Blake Pearson, the Baker University student struck by a car last month as he crossed Sixth Street, was discharged Tuesday from University of Kansas Hospital, a spokesman said Thursday.
