Law enforcement report

  • A confrontation in a crosswalk led to an arrest earlier this week, according to a report. An 18-year-old Kansas University student told police she was sitting in her car at 11th and Massachusetts Streets about 2:50 p.m. Sunday when a man who was walking his bicycle through the crosswalk grew angry that her car was partially in the crosswalk. The woman said she apologized but that man struck her car with his bicycle. Police arrested the man, a 52-year-old transient, on suspicion of criminal damage.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 54-year-old man told sheriff’s deputies someone took more than $3,000 in property between 8 a.m. and noon Monday from his home in the 800 section of East 1500 Road. It appeared someone pried open the door of the home. Items taken included a $2,500 Sherwin-Williams paint sprayer, a DVD player and a silver diamond ring.
