Law enforcement report

  • Police arrested a 29-year-old Baldwin man Saturday night on suspicion of beating a 38-year-old McLouth man at 31st Street and Haskell Avenue. The two men began fighting after they left Coyote’s, 1003 E. 23rd St.
  • Two men fighting in the parking lot of West Coast Saloon, 2222 Iowa, caused $1,000 in damage to a Chevrolet pick-up truck parked in the lot. The fight happened about 7:05 p.m. Saturday. Police have identified the men but haven’t found them yet.
  • A 20-year-old Kansas University student suffered a cut to the back of his head about 1:45 a.m. Saturday after being hit with a beer bottle at Cadillac Ranch, 2515 W. Sixth St. He said he didn’t know the man who hit him and didn’t know why it happened, according to a report.
  • A 24-year-old Lawrence man was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital Friday night for injuries he suffered in a fight in the 600 block of Vermont Street.

The man was injured in a fight with a 24-year-old Paola man who had been giving him a ride home. The Paola man told police the fight started when the other man began verbally assaulting him, then refused to get out of the truck.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A KU student reported 300 compact discs valued at $4,500 stolen between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. Sunday from the 1000 block of Emery Road.
  • Someone broke the passenger-side window of a vehicle in the 1000 block of New Hampshire Street and took two women’s purses, compact discs and other items. The theft happened between 10:30 p.m. and 11:35 p.m. Saturday. Total damage and value of items stolen was $2,980.
  • A riding lawn mower valued at $1,000 reportedly disappeared between 2 p.m. Aug. 18 and 3 a.m. Aug. 19 from a 56-year-old Lawrence man’s home in the 700 block of North Fifth Street.
  • A 47-year-old resident of the Salvation Army Shelter, 946 N.H. told police someone stole his motorized skateboard valued at $1,253 and $400 bicycle between 10 p.m. Aug. 17 and 6 a.m. Aug. 18. The theft happened in the same block as the shelter.
