KU game locale altered

The site of Kansas University’s exhibition men’s basketball game against University College of Fraser Valley has been changed.

The Jayhawks and Cascades will play at 9 p.m. CDT on Sept. 5 at Mennonite Educational Institute’s gym in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

MEI’s high school gym seats more fans than Fraser Valley’s Activity Centre. It turns out KU won’t be the only team playing a doubleheader that day. Fraser Valley will meet Nevada-Las Vegas at 1 p.m. and KU in the night game. KU will meet Langara College at 1 p.m. in Vancouver.

KU’s first foe on the four-game Labor Day tour, University of British Columbia, defeated NCAA Division One school Hampton University, 75-66, Wednesday in Vancouver.

Casey Archibald, a 6-foot-4 senior, had 24 points and eight boards for Hampton. KU will play UBC at 2 p.m. on Sept. 4 in Vancouver and also meet the Burnaby Mountain All-Stars at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 in Burnaby.

KU has sold 250 tickets for each of the four games. Deadline for ticket purchases is 5 p.m. Wednesday. For tickets, call 1-800-34-HAWKS.
