What would you do if you had a friend or loved one obsessed with Bob Barker and “The Price is Right”? I might tell that person to get a life. But that wouldn’t make for very good television. Kim Bondi’s family arranged for her to appear in the series “Thrill of a Lifetime” (9 p.m., Biography Channel), a show that allows ordinary folks to meet their small-screen idols.

“Thrill” also arranges for another woman, Gillian Seidler, to meet her TV crush, Jamie Oliver of “Naked Chef” fame. He even invites her to his kitchen to whip something up.

While many contemporary entertainment-related shows have taken a cool, ironic approach toward fans and celebrity culture, “Thrill” is clearly a throwback. It doesn’t take itself seriously for a second. But along the way, it does a good job of capturing the giddy excitement of irrational adoration and simple wish-fulfillment.

• Remember Osama bin Laden? The series “Targeted” (7 p.m., History) devotes two hours to the hunt for the terrorist who took credit for the murderous 9-11 attacks as well as the bombing of the USS Cole and the attacks on American embassies in 1998. Interviews include former and current members of the CIA and Special Forces, and authors Mark Bowden (“Black Hawk Down”), Steve Coll (“Ghost Wars”), Phillip Smucker (“Al Qaeda’s Great Escape”) and Simon Reeve (“The New Jackals”).

• Scaring children is big business in the 2001 animated comedy “Monsters, Inc.” (7 p.m., Encore), featuring the voices of John Goodman, Billy Crystal and Steve Buscemi.
• Tommy considers cashing in his chips on “The Casino” (8 p.m., Fox).
