Hazel E. Chambers
Emporia ? Services for Hazel E. Chambers, 89, Emporia, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia.
Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
She was born Sept. 8, 1914, in Independence, Kan., the daughter of Samuel and Philista Arndorph Smith.
Mrs. Chambers worked as a nurse at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Emporia for five years. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint James Baptist Church in Emporia, where her husband served as pastor.
She married the Rev. W. A. “Jack” Chambers on April 16, 1933, in Chanute. He died Feb. 13, 1990.
Two daughters, Anita Coats and Ruth Chambers, also died earlier.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Chambers, Wichita, and Robert Chambers, Emporia; three daughters, Wanda Marshall, Lawrence, and Betty Chambers and Kathy Hawkins, both of Emporia; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
