Yvonne J. Mellenbruch
Services for Yvonne J. Mellenbruch, 74, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lawrence.
Mrs. Mellenbruch died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 8, 1930, in Horton, the daughter of George Henry and Rachel Marie Kopp Davey.
She graduated from Denton High School in 1948, moved to Lawrence from Hiawatha in 1959 and worked as a telephone operator for Kansas University for 34 years.
She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and worked in the church nursery for more than 20 years. She was well-known for her Sunday family dinners.
She married Donald L. Mellenbruch Sr. on April 18, 1954, in Hiawatha. He died March 1, 1990.
Survivors include three sons, Donald Jr., Lawrence, Charlie, Overland Park, and Duane, Lawrence; and 10 grandchildren.
A daughter, Jeanette Williams, died Nov. 8, 1999.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at First Southern Baptist Church.
The family suggests memorials to First Southern Baptist Church playground fund, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
