Tulsa tickets selling

Kansas University’s decision to air an exclusive broadcast of the men’s basketball exhibition game against the University of British Columbia live from Canada on the video board at KU’s Memorial Stadium — hours before the football team’s season opener against Tulsa — produced an immediate surge in single-game ticket sales.

KU associate athletic director Jim Marchiony said Thursday that 300 tickets for the Sept. 4 football game were sold Wednesday.

“We think it’s going to be a great atmosphere,” Marchiony said. “The ticket office has been on the phone all day today as well. It’s obvious it’s going to be a fun day, and people are excited about it.”

The basketball game will tip off at 2 p.m. Lawrence time. Memorial Stadium gates will open at 1:30 p.m. Anyone with a ticket to the football game will be admitted to the stadium. After the game, fans may leave the stadium, tailgate and then return for the 6 p.m. kickoff.
