Bertha Mae Evans

? Services for Bertha Mae Evans, 81, Ulysses, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Ulysses. Burial will be at Golden Cemetery, Ulysses.

Mrs. Evans died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at Western Prairie Care Home, Ulysses.

She was born April 9, 1923, in Manhattan, the daughter of Charlie B. and Hattie L. Ross Bohling. She grew up in Meade and graduated from New Hampton (Iowa) High School in 1942. She moved to Ulysses in 1949.

Mrs. Evans worked at Boeing Co. during World War II, and she was a rancher, farmer and bookkeeper in Ulysses. She was a member of the American Agriculture Movement, Order of the Eastern Star, Santa Fe Trail Assn., Southwest Kansas Royalty Owners Assn., Grant County Historical Society and First United Methodist Church.

She married Homer O. Evans on May 26, 1947, in Meade County. He died May 10, 2002.

Survivors include three daughters, Ethel Mae Evans and Hazel Ann Evans, both of Ulysses, and Tanja Fae Harrison, Lawrence; a brother, Delbert Bohling, Montrose, Colo.; a sister, Lucy Stucky, Topeka; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses.
