  • Update your campus address (where you’ll receive important mail while school is in session). Do this on the Web at www.registrar.ku.edu/online/address_updatenew.shtml. You may also update your address at the University Registrar’s Office, 121 Strong Hall.
  • Open a new university e-mail account or register an existing e-mail account. Do this on the Web KU Online Services page.
  • Attend your September and October advising information meetings. You will receive an e-mail with more detailed information. (If you start at KU in January, your advising information meeting will be in March.)
  • Review general education and major and minor requirements in the undergraduate catalog.
  • Update your academic major interest code in College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Services, 109 Strong Hall, or the dean’s office of your school.
  • Check that all college transfer credit is reflected on your Academic Requirements Tracking System form. If not, have an official transcript sent from the college previously attended to the KU Office of Admissions and Scholarships, KU Visitor Center.

Enrollment

  • Main advising begins late October for spring enrollment and in late March for summer and fall enrollment. Begin to make advising appointments a few weeks before main advising period. Make your advising appointment early — don’t delay.

  • Be sure to list at least two alternate courses.
  • Be on time for your advising appointment. Notify the Freshman-Sophomore Advising Center if you need to change or cancel your appointment.
  • Prepare for your advising appointment to list courses you plan to take in the spring, summer and fall semesters.
  • If you have not decided on a major, you may review option with your academic adviser, talk with faculty in the department or school of potential interest, and visit the Career Counseling and Planning Services, 2124 Watkins Student Health Center. You may also wish to take the course PRE 210 Career and Life Planning.
  • Visit the Student Organizations and Leadership Development Center, 400 Kansas Union, to explore ways to get involved.
