Big 12 Conference volleyball coaches think Kansas University will have two of the league’s top newcomers this fall.

The coaches voted Emily Brown, a KU freshman from Baldwin, preseason co-freshman of the year along with Nebraska’s Sara Paven. They also voted Paula Caten, a KU transfer from Barton County CC, preseason newcomer of the year. KU junior Josi Lima was a preseason all-conference pick.

However, the coaches picked the Jayhawks to finish seventh in the league standings. Last year, KU tied for third in the Big 12 and made its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
