Rich Lorenzo and Rick Mullen were named to the Berthel Fisher & Co. executive council for 2003. The Lawrence-based financial advisers were recognized for outstanding investment management and financial planning. They ranked in the top 10 percent of all advisers with the company in 2003. Lorenzo and Mullen also placed on the American Funds All American Team for the third consecutive year and the Franklin Templeton Kite & Key Club for 2003.

Lawrence-based Prosoco announces new staff members.

Lawrence resident Jenny Haralson has joined the company as sales lead coordinator. Haralson gathers, qualifies and distributes sales leads to Prosoco’s nationwide sales force. She also helps arrange Prosoco training seminars for the American Institute of Architects’ Continuing Education Program. She previously was a marketing consultant for Overland Park-based Universal Underwriters Group, an automotive insurance provider.

Peter Zeh, Lawrence, has joined Prosoco as laboratory manager. He previously served as a process engineer and technical service manager for Astaris, a chemical manufacturer. Zeh will oversee the laboratory’s quality assurance, research and development, customer project support and technical field support programs. Zeh has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y.

Lawrence resident Katie Stone, has been named the company’s office manager. She previously served as an administrative assistant for the Lawrence branch of the accounting firm Summers, Spencer and Callison.

Overland Park attorney Ruben Krisztal was elected president of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Assn. His one-year term began July 1. Krisztal leads the organization’s 22-member executive committee.

Kathy Kirk and Margaret Farley, both of Lawrence, are serving on the 2004-2005 KTLA executive committee. Kirk is vice president for education. Farley is a member at large.

The association is a statewide group of attorneys who represent consumers.

John Deere Golf & Turf One Source announced the addition of Matt Armbrister, associate brand manager, to its marketing team. Armbrister, Lawrence, will assist in strategic development and tactical execution of John Deere golf and sports turf marketing initiatives, including Golf & Turf One Source. Armbrister previously worked for Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, where he served as a senior account executive in charge of sponsorships, advertising and trade show development. Armbrister received a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a master’s degree in sports administration and journalism from Kansas University.

Sunnye Mayes has been named child and family therapist at the Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center in Lawrence. She will be responsible for therapy and assessments with children and adolescents. Mayes is pursuing a doctorate in clinical child psychology at Kansas University. She also is working as a family resource specialist at Success by 6.

Physical therapist Angela Pena has joined the staff of Lawrence Therapy Services and Baldwin Therapy Services. Pena received a master’s degree in physical therapy from Kansas University in 2004 after working as a physical therapy assistant for several years. She received a psychology degree from KU in 1998. Pena specializes in pain relief for neck and back injuries, balance and exercise training, the treatment of orthopedic and sports injuries and the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

Kansas Water Congress is having a conference Thursday and Friday in Garden City. The congress is an organization designed to create a forum where Kansans with a stake in water resource issues can share information and perspectives. U.S Sen.
