The Lawrence Mentor’s Duplicate Bridge Club met July 28. Six tables competed in a stratified game that followed a Mitchell movement. Don Brennaman directed the play.

Playing the North-South cards, Judy Bevan and John Gilbert claimed first place in A and B. Barb Hamilton and Bill Hamilton placed second in A and B and first in C.

Sitting East-West, Don Daugherty and Harry Talley swept first place in A, B and C. Dick Moore and Bobbie McCorkle finished second in A and B.

Playing the North-South cards, Virginia Seaver and Chris Lane finished first in A. Erna Holmes and Frances Vogel placed second. Janice Hollowell and Gladys Rivard claimed third in A, and first in B and C. Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges were fourth in A and second in B. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley took third in B and second in C.

Competing East-West, Paul Heitzman and Ky Coleman took first place in A. Julia Brooks and Madelyn Jenks finished second in A. Judy Bevan and Lynn Hui claimed third in A and first in B and C. Lois Clark and Cathy Blumenfeld tied for fourth in A with Patt Radford and Dan Osman. Clark and Blumenfeld also were second in B and C.

Bridge Unit 234 of The American Contract Bridge League had its annual unit championship and election game July 31. Twenty and a half tables of participants competed in a two section, two session stratified game. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Playing the North-South cards in section A in the morning session, Judy Hildreth and Dianne Childs claimed first place in A. Frances Vogel and Bill Hamilton finished second in A and first in B. Clarice Broz and Bebe Huxtable placed third in A, second in B, and first in C. Freda Gilmore and Suzanne Wassmer took fourth in A. Jan Brown and Liz Gilman were third in B. Al Ballard and Emily Foster placed second in C.

Competing East-West, Amit Chakrabarti and Curt Soloff claimed first place in A. Virginia Seaver and Jim Gunn were second. Virginia Eddy and Phyllis Brownlee placed third in A and first in B. Virginia Werner and Adelaide Hanna were fourth in A and second in B. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley took third in B and first in C. Lynn Hui and Judy Bevan were second in C.

Playing North-South in section B, Dave Rhea and Liz Rhea took first place in A. Paul Heitzman and Ky Coleman were second. Clyde Romer and Kent McCullough took third. Shirlie Vaughn and Mary White placed fourth. Shari Krentzel and Patti Griffits finished first in B and C. Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges were second in B.

Competing North-South in section A in the afternoon session, Virginia Overley and Mary Bauer claimed first place in A and B. Dianne Childs and Judy Hildreth were second in A. Hazel Burge and Jayne Frost placed third in A, second in B and first in C. Julia Brooks and Madelyn Jenks were fourth in A. Bill Hamilton and Frances Vogel took third in B. Gladys Dixon and Adeline Towle placed second in C.

Dan Osman and Ann Thompson placed fourth in A, second in B and first in C. Katey Loeske and Jean Mills were third in B and second in C. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd were fourth in B.

Playing North-South in section B, Paul Heitzman and Ky Coleman tied for first in A with Bob Huffman and Helen Huffman who also finished first in B. Dave Rhea and Liz Rhea finished third in A. Lois Jones and Jeff Nash took fourth in A. Patti Griffits and Shari Krentzel took second in B and first in C.

Wanda Durbin and Jean Otney placed fourth. Virginia Eddy and Phyllis Brownlee took second in B. Judy Bevan and Lynn Hui were third in B and first in C.

Overall, Chakrabarti and Soloff earned first place in A. Sloan and Schutzel placed second. Heitzman and Coleman placed third. Hickey and Radford were fourth. Gregg and Bush took fifth. Childs and Hildreth finished sixth.

Gregg and Bush earned first place in B. Zaricky and Taylor took second. Herd and Herd finished third. Eddy and Brownlee finished fourth. Overley and Bauer took fifth. Olson and Heavin finished sixth.

Olson and Heavin finished first in C. Broz and Huxtable placed second. Krentzel and Griffits were third. Loeske and Mills took fourth. Daugherty and Talley finished fifth.
