4-H club news

The Lone Star 4-H Club met July 12 at Alvamar Country Club’s swimming pool. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite type of fireworks. Members were encouraged to sign up to help with various aspects of the Douglas County Free Fair. Club members signed up to attend a concert at the fair. The club purchased tickets for members who had worked at a concession stand during the year. Members participated in a mini fair and a pool party. The next meeting will be Monday at the Lone Star Church.

The Kanwaka 4-H Club met in July. Stuart Wakeman and Joanna Wakeman led the club in the flag salute. The club sang “4-H Spirit.” Members answered roll call by naming their favorite fireworks. Jason McCandless read the minutes. Members who attended 4-H Camp at Rock Springs Ranch talked about the event. The club voted to donate $50 to a memorial fund.

Sierra Dickson and Shon Price lead the club in the flag salute at its August meeting. Mariah Dickson and Martha Kesler lead the club in singing “Old MacDonald.” Members answered roll call by naming their favorite flavor of ice cream. Joanna Wakeman read the minutes of the last month’s meeting. The club had a mini fair and farm tour. The next meeting will be Sept. 7.
