Donald L. Ousdahl

? Memorial services for Donald L. Ousdahl, 76, Shawnee, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Shawnee Presbyterian Church. Private interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.

Mr. Ousdahl died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, from complications of pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born June 12, 1928, in Lawrence, the son of Guy Wiley and Mabel Dean Westergren Ousdahl. He grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. He graduated from Kansas University with a degree in history.

Mr. Ousdahl was a military retiree. He joined the Kansas National Guard at age 19 and served in the Guard and Army Reserves for more than 30 years. He was deployed to Vietnam from January 1969 to November 1969. He served as a Chief Warrant Officer. He was a member of Military Officers Association of America and also a member of the local Sunflower chapter in Johnson County. He was a 40-year member of Shawnee Presbyterian Church and an ordained elder. He played trombone in a popular local band, The Serenaders, at several clubs and parties in Lawrence and Topeka during the mid-1940s. He owned and managed the Lenexa Insurance Agency until his retirement in January 1991. He was active in the Insurance Agents of America, serving as president of the Johnson County chapter.

He married Reta Hudson. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Paige Ousdahl Cocke, Augusta, Kim Ousdahl Roche, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Tracy Ousdahl Pinney, El Cerrito, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee is in charge of services.
