Betty June Walters

? Services for Betty June Walters, 78, Ottawa, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Cherry Street Wesleyan Church in Ottawa. Inurnment will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek, Ill.

Mrs. Walters died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa.

She was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Table Grove, Ill., the daughter of Harry and Susie De Moss Ritter. She graduated from Table Grove Community High School and lived in Pekin, Ill., for 40 years before moving in 1989 to Ottawa.

Mrs. Walters was a homemaker. She also had been a cook at Beechwood Healthcare in Pekin for 10 years. She was a member of Cherry Street Wesleyan Church in Ottawa.

She married William Albert Walters on May 30, 1943, in Abilene, Texas. He died Nov. 13, 1992. A son, Ronald Walters, also died earlier.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Simmons, Ottawa; a son, Richard Walters, Ottawa; two sisters, Eleanor Thorne, Peoria, Ill., and Mary Abernathy, Table Grove, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
