The week: Spencer had a tremendous showing at the 23-team Topeka West Invitational on Monday at the Topeka Country Club. Despite bogeying two holes late, Spencer was the lone golfer to break par, shooting a 1-under 70 to easily win the invitational, held at the site of next month’s state meet. Spencer topped second-place Jake Golden of Washburn Rural by four strokes, and led the Lions to a sixth-place finish on the day.

Sport: Softball
The week: As Eudora’s tough-as-nails pitcher, Spence improved her season record to 11-0 with two key victories Tuesday over Frontier League foe Prairie View. Spence, with offensive help from Alissa Hamilton and Kayla Moyer, topped Prairie View, 8-3, in the first game. She shut down the Buffaloes in the nightcap, allowing just one hit in a 5-1 victory. Eudora is off to an 11-1 start. Spence has an ERA of 0.98, with 70 strikeouts and just 11 walks.
