Chamber praises Realtor’s committee work

When the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce needs something done, it knows whom to call.

Linda Trotter has served on various committees for the chamber for nearly 10 years and is a member of the Envoy Committee, Education Appreciation Committee and the Annual Meeting Committee. She received the chamber’s Wally Galluzzi Volunteer of the Year Award Friday. The award honors an outstanding chamber volunteer each year.

Cathy Lewis, vice president of membership for the chamber, said Trotter had organized the group’s fall mixer for several years and was almost always present at events such as ribbon cuttings and the annual meeting.

Linda Trotter has been named the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce's Volunteer of the Year. She is a member of the chamber's Envoy Committee, Education Appreciation Committee and Annual Meeting Committee.

“Linda’s one of those volunteers you can always count on,” she said. “If you need something, you can call her up and she’ll help if she can.”

As a Realtor with Coldwell Banker McGrew Real Estate Inc., Trotter also has been active on the Lawrence Board of Realtors. She is the board’s director, serves on the Computer Committee, the Education Committee and is a certified member of the Professional Standards Committee.

Trotter said the services provided her with good networking opportunities to meet other Lawrence business people and that she enjoyed the volunteer work. She said she also enjoyed some of the other ways she has engaged in community service.

“One of my favorites was the Sunflower Games because I like athletics,” she said.

Trotter volunteered for the games from 1989 until they moved to Topeka two years ago. Sunflower State Games offer Olympic-style competition in activities for all ages.

Trotter has volunteered with several organizations dedicated to health, including the American Heart Assn., Multiple Sclerosis Association of America and March of Dimes. She was also the Lawrence High School pom squad coach from 1992 to 1999.

Athletics play a large part in Trotter’s life outside volunteering as well. She said she enjoyed working out and has recently taken up golf. She is a fan of Kansas University athletics and said she attended all the home games and tried to make some of the out-of-state games as well.
